What's the intermarriage rate for German-Americans? How many intimidated Congressmen speak at the annual America-Poland Political Action Committee convention? How many billionaires attend the Dutch-American equivalent of Haim Saban's annual fundraiser for the Israeli Army?https://twitter.com/nathancofnas/status/1030728986182090752 …

What's more compelling, the implicit meaning of Philip Roth's definition of Jewish guilt, or the fact that liberal Jews have an intermarriage rate of 70%, and liberal Jewish leaders celebrate intermarriage/conversion and say that Jews should become more "racially diverse"?

For reference, the odds ratio, which takes into account the population size and for which 1 would mean there is not effect of group status on endogamy rate, for large white ethnic groups relative to one another is about 10, same for between protestants and catholics.pic.twitter.com/LdXBoKYaD7

But don't trust your lying eyes or calculator, Steve. Anyways, this issue is discussed in detail the Jewish sociology literature e.g., Phillips (2018) "Intermarriage in the twenty-first century: New perspectives. In American Jewish Year Book 2017".

Here is another one. Another way to look at this is that if e.g., liberal Jews, at 2% of the population, have an out marriage rate of 70%, they are about 15x less likely to out marry then random.pic.twitter.com/ZdKz7c6hLX

It's the historical trend that's telling. Eyeballing the graph: during 1950-1990, endogamy for Jews dropped ~4-fold while for Whites it went down by ~150-fold. For Asians it is ~ the same as for Whites - with the critical difference that there were hugely fewer Asians in the US

The ratios take into account percent of marriage market. This is why Asians, despite having a high out marriage percentage, still have a high ratio. It's standard practice to use odds ratio of endogamy, not out marriage percentages.

Unsuprisingly, marriage is a major concern in the extensive 'jewish sociology' literature, so you can find a lot on this, if you bother to look. Basically there is a lot of boiling off, with less ethnocentric Jews outmarring. Would be interesting to look at who CofC people marry.pic.twitter.com/H8IA9f9cZd

I would also take Cofnas' numbers with a grain of salt. Here are the rates noted by Sheskin and Hartman (2015) in "The facts about intermarriage" based on an analysis of Decade 2000 and other community survey data. You only get 70% if you look at "Just Jews" (unaffiliated).pic.twitter.com/DDnsTf1xDJ

I think if the Netherlands were surrounded by a few hundred million angry neighbors who wanted to kill all Dutch people, you'd find the Dutch taking a more acute interest in their military prowess. At least I would hope so.

Yes, but you wouldn't see America beholden to this. Also, its not exactly a mystery how Israel found itself in the middle of a bunch of people who wanted revenge.

If a Euro ethnic American’s family belongs to to a church, benevolent society, or social club of their ethnicity and their kids either don’t go to college or commute to a local college/university they will likely intermarry within their group. But, what do I know, I’m just a DP.

Israel does not have a US military base or NATO membership like Poland, Turkey and Holland do. Clearly Dutch , Polish and Turkish lobbyist are more sneaky and successful in making forcing US taxpayers spend billions on defending their countries. Rich Jews have to learn from them

Sailer notices that Jews feel different bout themselves, and that's probably true. Do we have a Dutch equivalent of the Bible? Is Jerusalem famous because it was a Polish city 2000 years ago? Were Dutch or Poles the ones who invented Christianity?
