It’s fashionable to cite Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam’s research showing that immigration and diversity reduce trust. And yet, high trust multiculturalism thrives in at least one booming aspect of the economy: fraud gangs. http://www.unz.com/isteve/ye-of-little-faith-multiculturalism-is-succeeding/ …pic.twitter.com/7AaiIhQ7up

Lots of immigrants get "started" in their new homeland with insurance fraud. Been seeing plenty of Bosnians, Africans, and Cape Verdeans get busted lately

I haven't seen as many of them, but it wouldn't surprise me given their reputation. I know some old people who were gullible enough to give money to Indian IT scammers

Yeah when i hear about how great recent immigrants are and how much they make, I take it with a grain of salt. I've even seen South Asian/Mideastern doctors get busted pretty regularly

@Steve_Sailer has written about how South Asian groups in the IT sector practice ruthless ingroup favoritism

From my understanding, Slavic gangsters swore off ties to the state. Caucasian ones understood strict omerta was less profitable than becoming the hidden hand of their local governments. Heydar Aliyev, for ex., got around inefficiencies of command economy through black market.

But gangsters in Soviet Union had one tough central authority to bypass, so they learned how to cooperate with one another. So yes, diversity works when you have absolute, centralized, tyrannical state power. Good to note!

I think diversity can be a net positive if handled intelligently & fairly. Unfortunately, we're in the midst of a crazy SJW Cultural Revolution. The latest victim is John Schnatter who had his name removed from Purdue University. Fortunately, the New York Times offer him a job.

More bad news for John Schnatter, founder of Papa John's: The Pizza Industry Council and the National Restaurant Association just stripped him of his White Privilege. For the rest of his life, he'll have to live as a Southeast Asian, "White Hispanic", or possibly as an Irishman.

Ppl. from 3rd-world cntries come to the US and it's like a lean, hungry fox let in to a coop of fat, spoiled, stupid chickens. This is still a hi-trust society, tho maybe 1/2 of what it was in 1963. It's like walking through an unguarded treasure vault. It's begging to be taken.

Putnam's own coefficients show it is not diversity per se, going of these figures trust increases monotonically with white pop. %. Compare betas of .18 for homogeneity vs -.31 for black pop, -.24 for latino pop.pic.twitter.com/KPmf9c8AqG

I'm sure he recognizes this but also realizes it is a more palatable way to put out his research. The positive beta from Gini coefficient is more than twice as high! We need greater inequality to increase neighborhood trust!

It brings to mind that impossibly Canadian drug trafficking syndicate who had a few guys popped a couple years back-- they called themselves the "United Nations". A confederation of Hmongs, Sikhs, Arabs, Chinese etc and the odd caker in the mix
