Yes, noticed after I posted the article. Also, wasn't French football always a bit peculiar? Even your first great team, late 50s, had many immigrants/descendants of in it (different ancestry than current team). Always had an impression it's just lees popular than elsewhere.

that is annoying to me. i cheer for France no matter what. this team is okay and wonky in a way that appeals to me. i prefer a flawed athlete/team. there's no need to make them out to be historically amazing or something.
