It's funny how American mass immigration enthusiasts mindlessly apply the same restaurant-based arguments they use to advocate the government electing a new people in USA to Europe: Finally, Lyon, Bruges, and Milan will get some decent restaurants due to all the new immigrants!https://twitter.com/dpinsen/status/1018123959810822144 …

And most immigrants - even those who open restaurants - aren’t creative geniuses. A good example of that is Chinese takeout, ubiquitous and nearly uniform nationally. Even the names aren’t creative: search for “Great Wall Chinese Restaurant” and see scores come up.

Heard from Chinese students, Chinese restaurants in the West are known to treat their employees very badly. They can always get some other poor Chinese to apply for the job, so they don't care. Chinese prefer to have Western employers, who treat them like people.

To think, East Asia is the closest to cuisine invented in the rest of the world. But it's mostly boiled vegetables, so primitive they don't even have amounts in the recipes. And sticks. A step up from knife and hand, but Romans invented forks.

Asia is also the closest to advanced music outside of the West. But no notes, no compositions. No piano, no depth. Elevator music. Chinese orchestras/audiences love bombastic Romantic classical music, not the subtler compositions. Have to tell them, "This is from the Romantic".

The concept of "haute cuisine" as a practical matter exists only in Western Europe, the United States and Japan, with a few exceptions. And all of the top Michelin restaurants in the USA are either indigenous "American" cuisine or from W. European/Japanese traditions.

Lyon's been the temple of French cuisine for at least 50 yrs now, with world famous French-French chefs. And if these idiot zombies want better gastronomy locally, they should import Japanese-- best foreign-born chefs in any type of cuisine--rather than mom & pop 3rd-worlders.

Or borscht ... how come nobody decries a lack of borsch options in America?!?! We clearly need more Russian immigrants...

America’s greatness no longer derives from the Moon Landing, Airplanes, Electricity, Light Bulbs, the internet, and the Telephone. But rather instead, our greatness somehow derives from a newfound ease-of-access to tacos, egg rolls, and curry.

Here's a solution--be selective and import only restauranteurs.
