all the Sikh boys/men I saw growing up in Scotland were huge, built like trees, although I never heard this noted anywhere

You often use height as an analogy for intelligence (normal distribution, lots of contributing genetic and env. factors, obv. differences between groups.) The surprise emergence of tall subgroups from large populations not previously noted for height implies...
-
...the potential for the same thing to happen with intelligence. For instance, Igbo have an average IQ of 107 or so, and there are tens of millions of them. Ashanti and Yoruba may also have high potential. There could be a surge of African tech companies in the future.

Some of the better tutorials on http://Scotch.io are written by Chris Nwamba, for instance.

Sikhs were probably always tall. They are Khatri, a North Indian warrior caste. Other comparable groups are Pashtuns and Tajiks, who are often quite tall.

You can tell how old elderly people are in Japan by their height. Those who were kids in the 40s average under 5' because of malnutrition in their formative years. Both older and younger are taller because they got more food when they were growing.

Dutchmen in general not being called tall in 19th/20th century journalism + fiction, tho some individuals are. But Dutch neutrality in WWI, quick surrender in WWII, + having, losing, own colonies, means male population of 1820 survives intact to 2010, unlike rest of Europe.

I don’t think Americans were ever stereotyped as lanky. The 19th century stereotype was cowboy-types who put their feet on tables. Nothing about body shape.
