Arabs were white in the Jim Crow South. E.g., Houston Lebanese superlawyer Jim Jamail. His Lebanese immigrant dad was white under Jim Crow. Carlos Slim (formerly Salim) fit right in among Mexico's elites. His wife a Gemayel (Fascist warlords) This stuff is quite relativistichttps://twitter.com/Race__Realist/status/1011441572402122753 …

No one ever claimed Arabs are white. Now you're strawmanning.

Would an Anwar Sadat Arab have been considered White in the Jim Crow south? Doubt it. Lebanese Christians tend lighter than a lot of Arabs.

Sadat's mother was from Sudan, so he was much blacker than many other Egyptians, such as Nasser, Mubarak, Sisi, Omar Sharif, Boutros Boutros Ghali, and Rami Malek.

In the mid 60s, Egyptian actor Omar Sharif was cast to play an ethnic Russian in the movie "Dr Zhivago"pic.twitter.com/OvVbeT9h9c

Omar Sharif (Turkish) in "Dr Zhivago" as Russian and Yul Brynner (Russian as Siamse) in "The King and I". Fabulous performances that would have been lost in today's "Cultural Appropriation" madness gripping Hollywood.

Lebanese Christians count as white IMO. My capstone advisor had dark hair and eyes but light skin. The Ancient Greeks and Romans almost never said Middle Easterners were much darker than them. Wiley, deceitful, sadistic, yes, but not phenotypically all that different.

But, once the Muslims started taking in sex slaves from India and Africa, yeah, they went from being white to "brown." This is why Christian Arabs usually qualify as white, but the Muslim ones don't. It also explains why the Mideast went from the cradle of civilization to, um..

Paler peoples in the Middle East mostly seem to be Levantines like Lebanese, Syrians, Palestinians who probably have substantial blood from the Greeks of the Eastern Roman Empire and were always different from desert Arabs to begin with.

There's a surprisingly wide range of skin tones in the Mideast. I think I read awhile ago that pictures of top Iranian students had unusually white skin, whereas the worse students had darker skin. Again, explains why the Mideast went from civilization center to hellscape.

Iranians are Persians, again, they've always been totally different from desert and gulf Arabs.

Well the book wasn't meant to be exhaustive. Only relevant to neighboring states. They are still unique human tribes. There is an odd rumor in China that the Yellow Emperor was Noah after his kids went their seperate ways and he took a new wife.
