Zeppelin 1 & 2 perfected the blues. Then they transcended it with Page’s “CIA connection” (Celtic, Indian, Arabic).

Didn't Led Zeppelin steal better music?
-
Steal? If you can’t tell the difference between Zep’s When the Levee Breaks and the original, you need to get your hearing checked

So right! I could never get into the Blues but thank heavens the Brits did. Zeppelin, the Stones, Pink Floyd...

A lot of 90s grunge strikes me as what late 60s acid bands might have done with better recording tech.

Benny Goodman Live At Carnegie Hall is one of best live performances recorded ever. Quality of musicianship outstanding. And Led Zeppelin doing the blues, especially on Led Zeppelin I, was awesome. Some critics weren’t big on Zep though.

Blues always struck me as music you were supposed to like, but never actually listened to. I would hear people talk about how great Robert Johnson was, but I would never hear them actually play it.

Lightning Hopkins was pretty good. Muddy Waters too. Basically, the further blues got from its origins, the better it got, and the English reinvented it.
