Because time flows backwards, our highest duty is to our grandparents, not to our grandchildren. @nickgillespiehttps://twitter.com/nickgillespie/status/1005597410666704896 …

I am a special-pleader here: There is simply no way my four grandparents would have been let into America if *any* limits were placed on Euro immigration in the 1910s. They were poor, uneducated, unskilled. They were also model Americans, even the ones who never learned English https://twitter.com/reason/status/1005230493262991360 …

Leftism is a religion. Their priests see things we don’t, hear stuff we can’t, they can bend time, alter space and rewrite human conscience. You’re now accountable for things done by people who are no more, onto others who are long dead.

That’s an interesting observation. The right has traditionally been associated with laws on blasphemy & Lèse-majesté, but with Political Correctness the Left has made its core beliefs sacred & supposedly immune from criticism...

The left picked up the catholic church's market segment (the poor, the oppressed) right after the enlightenment. What we see now is an episode of 14th Century 'flagellant dementia', a purity race due to corrupted management. It's a decay process, which must run its course.

Hah yeah, the comparison to flaggelants is very apt. They’ve always reminded me of scenes in Holy Grail & Jabberwocky ;). Here’s some interesting further reading: “anyone who did not join in the flagellation was accused of being in league with the devil.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flagellant?wprov=sfti1 …pic.twitter.com/heDxkDcAXm

Exactly. Peak flagellant (or 'peak wokeness') was around the 14th Century, for good reasons. Whoever makes a sensible, data driven, factual parallel between the flagellant derangement syndrome and the state of the Dem Party will never have to work another day of his life.

in the ancient world people worried what their ancestors would have thought of them; today people worry what their descendants will think of them;at one point Jason Chaffetz pulled his support of Trump because of what his daughter might say; I'm sure his ancestors laughed at him

Liberal logic: because there was mass immigration 100 years ago then immigration must remain unlimited forever. Shouldn't this logic hold when remembering the 40 year immigration moratorium that started in the 1920's as result of the mass immigration of earlier decades, or nah?

It's a shame my German ancestors didn't beat my English and American ancestors, because none of them would be facing overrun by hostile other cultures today.

Wonder what Nicks grandparents would have thought of the prospect of millions of Arab Muslim immigrants behaving exactly the same as millions of European Christian immigrants?

Nick might not feel any loyalty to his parents and grandparents, but Latins, Africans and Middle Easterners sure do. Also, the aforementioned have no reverence for the Libertarian Holy Trinity: Marijuana, cheap labor and sodomy. PS: Does Nick even have grandkids?

The country that my father came to as a child after WWII is not the country that exists now, nor will it be ever be again (#MAGA is a lie) and that would be true even if the 1965 Immigration Act had not been passed, I think I'll take my children elsewhere

His Italian grandparents reaction to Somalians or Guatemalans being dumped in their neighorhood then asked to pay the freight, would be more entertaining than his silly tweets.

These European immigrants were hard working and most spoke English while most of those who didn't learned to speak English quickly. There was little public welfare to distract them from working hard to help build this country rather then sponge off of it.

Yes, but it would interesting to chart the number of times "my ancestors settled this land, these other people are encroachers" is invoked regarding immigration vs "I fear for the changing values that will affect my children's lives"
