Carl Zimmer’s argument against the genetic reality of race relies upon 46-year-old warmed-over Lewontinism. In 1972, Lewontin noted 85% of total genetic diversity exists among individuals within racial groups, while only 15% tracks to geographic ancestry. http://takimag.com/article/two_opposed_ideas_steve_sailer/print#axzz5HQFZJgXp …pic.twitter.com/GnkBhzrzRf

What a waste of intellectual firepower for @Steve_Sailer to be spending the time to read 656 pages of tedious, mendacious obscurantism. Winner of the Jay Gould Prize!🏆😖 There ought to be a n annual @TOOEdit Prize, for most telling example of Scientific Obscurantism.pic.twitter.com/XoOepJU9i4

The fact that Zimmer got the Stephen Jay Gould Prize tells you all you need to know.

The Kevin McDonald Scientific Obscurantism Prize 🏆 Committee’s selection deliberations will be so easy. The default pick will be whatever’s so execrable as win the Jay Gould Prize.

Joe average notices racial differences and everyone knows which racial/ethnic group to which they belong, even mixed-race people (they'll proudly tell you of their heritage). If racial differences are minor, one wonders why Israel has the policies it does? Ask the Japanese too

Yeah, the classic "greater within-group variance renders between-group difference meaningless".

There is a good argument that the 15% variation is more important. Genetic variation within races has past the test of coexistence for thousands of years - i.e. blond & brown hair. Variation between races, such ability to delay gratification doesn't have the same track record.

If the 1st word in a novel is 'It', you can't identify it. 10th word is 'man', not much help. But if you cluster, 'It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man...' bingo, Pride and Prejudice. Rest of book can be ignored for ID.
