Obama played it cautious in 2009-2011, but his re-election bid focused on reigniting race and sex resentments to drive Democratic turnout. As I predicted in my 2008 book on Obama, in 2nd term an unleashed Obama Admin was much more driven by anti-white male identity politics.https://twitter.com/fredbauerblog/status/1002251418059800576 …

I was very much in the tank for BHO in 2008 and I recall chatting w friends how we completely overrated Obama's oratory like pretending his so so "speech about race" was Demosthenes on steroids. After years of "that's not who we are" the media still pretends he is JFK levek

Obama had negative persuasion skills on what he considered his two top domestic priorities - Gun control and global warming, Lost ground on both and if you examine his language you could tell he did not really understand the other side of the gc debate so he was unable to persu..

With global warming he never even tried to persuade or make arguments . He made assertions "believe science" "act now" etc Climate models far less accurate than Wall St earnings estimates and ppl rightly distrust many scientists. Obama ignored these stumbling blocks.

Obama's Brexit remarks were another persuasion fail. He really annoyed many Brits with his "back of the line" remarks. Someone told me they overheard Cameron (while in Antigua for Easter) railing against BHO over things like that; That's gossip, but reliable.

I thought Dreams Of My Father was a pretty good book for a politician depute being weighed down with bong hit 'deep thoughts' etc. But in terms of literary quality it is no where near to Profiles In Courage which is weighed down by the association of the Profile awards

Whoever wrote Profiles (JFK or Sorensen/ both) had read 100s of books of US history and had a deep love of country/ Dreams (I believe BHO wrote it with an editor) evinces no vast reading. But does show a love of self

The very well read Bill Clinton authentically loved Profiles in C, but I suspect most pll in Hillary 2016 would find the book to be 'problematic;' on many levels. The cultural shift to left in D politics is vast since 92. In 92 Bill had campaign staff that went to church/hunted

Another major persuasion fail - Obama's Cairo speech which gave birth the apology tour meme. Ike ovb dealt better w Arab world than Obama and Egyptian sunni students did not care about Ike coup in Iran - Probably would support it This speech failed on so many levels .

It may also be worth noting that 2012 was the year Obama finally "came out" in favor of gay marriage, after years of toeing the "between a man and a woman" line.

I think it's wrong to say "in 2nd term an unleashed Obama Admin was much more driven by anti-white male identity politics." It's accurate to say the "in the 2nd Obama term the left was much more driven by anti-white male identity politics.

The left got signals from above to come out and play, while the Obama administration could avoid direct responsibility for all but a handful of the worst incidents. It was so underhanded that I have had a hard time seeing what has made Trump so uniquely awful in his conduct.

Two sides to every coin........2012 was the year the GOP managed to find a presidential candidate that the military hated more than Obama....... We can argue whether the stories about McCain are true or not....but young soldiers listen to old soldiers...
