Sopranos and Breaking Bad were great, but six hours was enough to grasp what they were about. Mad Men was real good too but I couldn't get through the seventh episode because I understood the show by then. I prefer movies because they are over in 2 hours.https://twitter.com/Hyperkitsch__/status/1002068242750259200 …

No one will ever top @CKlosterman's explanation of why "Breaking Bad" is the best series in TV history -- unique among the top shows, it's about the evolution of a character's morality. http://grantland.com/features/bad-decisions …pic.twitter.com/FhV8Q4TC2f

Breaking Bad was great in that it questioned the audience how far they'd follow Walter White I supported him in everything, he did nothing wrong

I was mad at him when he let Krysten Ritter die, though.

This is making me want to recommend seasons of shows that are 8-10 episodes long like Fargo and Legion

I think most shows are only good for 3-4 seasons. Leaving the audience wanting more is better.

I think Breaking Bad was very obvious from the first 6 minutes as to what it was about. Writers are keen to insure that it's obvious from the start so the viewer can wonder about where things might go. For my money The Shield was the ultimate moral inversion drama.

I loved Mad Men, but the later seasons made me sad when you got to when things went really bad with 1968 and the result of 1968.

Old TV dramas pre-1980 were more or less constant repeats of some story with guest Stars. Wasn't that bad since you could only see show once a week - sometimes only 26-30 times a year.

Repeat factor can be good when you enjoy characters and situations. Just need mild variation. Plus see shows on DVD and FF a lot.

For me it felt different with each season. I don't know that it is iSteve catnip, but the journey was mostly satisfying and the end was very satisfying. There were maybe 3 episodes I'd skip.

I think BB and The Sopranos stand up because their settings are built up each season. They clearly hired people who had done their research.

Try Person of Interest. Sure, you'll have figured it out long by the 6th episode, but the episodes are still fun to watch even after you do figure it out.

Would you find a feature film that runs at 4 or 6 hours to be too long? I never watched Sopranos or Mad Men (too many #NewYorkValues) but something like Stranger Things or the Marvel shows are really padded epic films, they would work better at a max of about 4 to 6 hours.
