Yeah. Feels like every show runs out of original plot ideas around the 2nd or 3rd season and tries to cover for it by having the characters start falling in love with each other.

I generally bail out when one of the characters gets cancer. It's a sure sign they're run out of ideas.

Breaking Bad tho

Yeah...couldn’t get into it. Tried 3 times, never made it past episode 5 or 6.

I agree as I always count the time that has gone by and will never come back again. Happens to me as well if I watch anything on the computer, as my TV set is in the storage. Thought you would enjoy this:https://twitter.com/ElianaBenador/status/986572540024901632 …

The reason Game of Thrones is amazing is that there are hundreds of different houses, clans, cults, families etc. introduced over what will end up being ~85 hours. It's like an incredibly long movie that gives one a felt experience of the European medieval system (+ some magic).
-
They key thing isn't the length but the amount of story arc relative to length. GoT has plenty of it, so there's no padding. The Americans had some padding. I'd be curious to see if Steve would stop watching Billions after 6 hours.
-
I stopped after 3 or 4 shows.

White-picket-fence Americans reimagined as amoral murderous foreigners. Played better with cosmopolites notorious in their hatred of actual Middle Americans. Hated it.

I once read about 15 novels in a fantasy series. It's not for everyone.

My sweet spot is two seasons. I loved The Americans for three so it did better than average.

Steve, with all due respect, Mad Men was worth the time investment. It was the TV show that came the closest to accurately depicting the business world, and how hard it is to get clients and how easy it is to lose them.

I have no patience for this stuff either. I tried to watch Mad Men and Sopranos, but 5 minutes into the first episode I realize I must commit, and it all seems so boring. Maybe late at night it would be more engrossing.

Steve, give at very least the first episode of "Flint Town" on Netflix a try. Lots of column material for you. It deals with policing/race in Flint Michigan up to the trump campaign. I generally steer FAR away from docuseries, but I was hooked on this one.

It gets worse when you binge watch old TV shows at the 22 episode per season quantity. It took me two months to get through ER. Then half a month for House this month. Watch a show that much, you can quickly see the weakness in the writing in these (award-winning) shows
