Male circumcision is a recognized anti-HIV strategy in 3rd-world settings where the disease is prevalent and medical resources are limited. Risk of acquiring HIV from sexual partner is reduced substantially when foreskin (inner surface is a route of entry) is removed.

Also prevents other (less serious) medical conditions. I may sound a bit harsh here but I think the wave of anti-circumcision popularity over the last 20 years is right up there with anti-vaxxers and holistic medicine pushers. Sorry. Love ya

No worries. It's just the religious BS that pushed it to begin with. And I'll admit to being a bit skeptical of some of the studies saying it's good, as they seem be backed/funded by religious organizations. Education and basic hygiene would cover most of the problems, right?

You wouldnt be born with one if it wasnt meant to be. If you have a good hygiene regimen i doubt very much that circumcision would serve much purpose.

You are born with finger nails that grow and harbor bacteria. Should we not cut them? You are born with an umbilical cord attached. Shall we try to keep it forever? We use deodorant and wash and do many things that are contradictory to the way we were born for hygiene purposes

None of those require a surgical procedure though. So I'm not sure those are quite the same.

I wouldn't even call it a surgical procedure. That's pushing it. Some topical anesthetic and a little clip with a device very similar to nail clippers

There are devices designed specifically for adult male circumcision in 3rd-world regions, which can be used by nurses in an office setting. By eliminating the need for a physician and a surgical setting, scale-up programs are much more efficient.
