How does circumcising a baby protect them against HIV?

Adult male circumcision is a recognized low-cost method of reducing HIV in settings where the disease is prevalent and medical resources are limited. See: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29617778 Inner surface of foreskin is highly vulnerable to HIV; removing foreskin substantially reduces risk.

Oh. Adult male. Okay, well that's fine then....I'm totally in favour of adult males getting circumcised if they so elect to. Sounds like there's no reason to do it to babies....awesome! Glad we cleared that up

Reduced uti from 2.25% of infants to .2. It also lowers rate of genital cancers.

Yep, UTIs being something that are mostly easily treatable, and the risk of infections or haemorrhaging from circumcision is about the same as the rate of medical problems they supposedly prevent.

However, the outcomes of routine male circumcision in neonates in US cannot be arbitrarily applied to third-world settings.
