Meta-Analysis: Sex differences are often “blamed” on differential parenting of boys vs. girls. But do parents actually treat their sons and daughters differently? Barely at all. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4945059/ …pic.twitter.com/jl2Zn5ND5y

...and even if they did, parents have a lot less impact on their kids than we usually assume. https://stevenpinker.com/files/pinker/files/the_blank_slate_general_psychologist.pdf … RIP Judith Rich Harrispic.twitter.com/5lnbnr7Zqp

Innate differences, as illustrated by the David Reimer case, seems to bolster the legitimacy of things like recognizing trans people are who they say they are, so why the left would cling to nurture primacy is a mystery

I was literally just thinking about how this impacts circumcision. Autonomy based parenting, but only for girls, is the reason circumcision is still totally legal.

The only difference I have in parenting my two daughters vs my two boys is that I am more physically protective over my girls. Other than that my relationship with them is me interacting with their differences in temperament and interest according to what they need.

This meta analyses shouldn't have been done if observational studies are not recognised as scientific as you continually imply. However, perhaps use 'selective sampling' or 'case study'. Why not focus on those who HAVE treated their sons/ daughters differently?

Bit of a leap from “parents exert generally the same amount of control with girls and boys” to “parents don’t treat/parent girls and boys differently”. Parental control is far from the only or even the main factor in parenting.

Interesting that biosocial theory and predictions are in the paper but not evolutionary psychology or what it predicts
