What is sad here, IMHO, is that the Persians as a people are actually more culturally alighted with Western values.
In 1980, Iraq invaded Iran with 300,000 Iranian deaths. In 2003, US invaded Iraq with 600,000 Iraqi deaths. Isis (Saudi proxy) killed 18,000 people. In 2011 Assad led the Syrian Civil War with 400,000 deaths. Iranians don’t have nearly as high a toll of state sponsored deaths.
This will be the First World War that will have battles fought in North America.
