An extraordinary set of exchanges between McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt and NYTimes White House correspondent Michael D. Shear. Q: When is a lie a lie? A: When it’s a lie, except in the New York Times. Essential reading.https://twitter.com/steveschmidtses/status/992822469013704704 …

We are living through unconscionable times, In which we have a lying despot in office who cages the press & calls you all fake news. We need more courage from these so called journalists . This isn’t normal times

The NYT remains the newspaper of record. And has so often in its history spoken truth to power courageously. (C. f., Pentagon Papers.) Which is why I think it all the more important to call them out when they refuse to call torture torture, or a lie a lie.

I think it is an important and necessary discussion. The late great Sen DP Moynihan said “ Americans are entitled to their own opinions but not their own facts.” We objectively don’t live in that country anymore and that isn’t just tragic it’s dangerous to democracy .

If you want to read real investigative journalism, read http://citjourno.org (Poke the Bear) and follow its brilliant authors
@LincolnsBible@ninaandtito@JamesFourM. But beware: MSM will be a 4-month old “so what” by the time they “break” our citjournos’ stories.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
