Always? I'm not sure that's true; b interesting to know which periods in American history had more or less of it? I don't think the thirties was a complacent America.... but I can't argue with the Ben Franklin quote questioning whether we'd b able to "keep" the Republic.

Buchanan has always been out there. He’s just as credible as ever. As the Republican Party stumbles, the two seem more comparable in terms of legitimacy to some. That’s why it was a bad decision to lend him credibility by having him in a visible place within the party.

IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT PAT BUCHANAN, HE HAS BEEN SPEWING THAT
#NAZI BULL SINCE HE WAS ON CROSSFIRE WITH TOM BRADEN IN THE 80s. -
The only time I ever agreed with Buchanan, he said that after W, Republicans would be out of power for at least a generation. He managed to be wrong about that too.

Buchanan also said in an interview, regarding ACA, that if he had another heart attack, he didn't want poor people in the ER to delay his being treated first.
