Pat Buchanan no longer opposes "the Left." He opposes democracy. And says so quite clearly.http://buchanan.org/blog/why-the-authoritarian-right-is-rising-129153 …

denounces "Democracy worshippers of the West" and cites, approvingly, the Islamist view of the West: "the title the ayatollah bestowed upon us, “The Great Satan,” is not altogether undeserved"

Who else on the American Right now openly hates America?

This Buchanan column is as un American as anything you will ever read. The reaction to it and the dark forces he is speaking to and for must be confronted with the power and the glory of the idea of liberal democracy. Complacency has always been an Achilles heel of our system.

Always? I'm not sure that's true; b interesting to know which periods in American history had more or less of it? I don't think the thirties was a complacent America.... but I can't argue with the Ben Franklin quote questioning whether we'd b able to "keep" the Republic.

Buchanan has always been out there. He’s just as credible as ever. As the Republican Party stumbles, the two seem more comparable in terms of legitimacy to some. That’s why it was a bad decision to lend him credibility by having him in a visible place within the party.

IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT PAT BUCHANAN, HE HAS BEEN SPEWING THAT #NAZI BULL SINCE HE WAS ON CROSSFIRE WITH TOM BRADEN IN THE 80s.

The only time I ever agreed with Buchanan, he said that after W, Republicans would be out of power for at least a generation. He managed to be wrong about that too.

Buchanan also said in an interview, regarding ACA, that if he had another heart attack, he didn't want poor people in the ER to delay his being treated first. 🙄
