I don’t understand why people feel the need to declare their Politics when they salute and mourn Mrs. Bush. We are Americans before we are partisans. We can be opponents and remain friends. We are all in it together and her great American life transcends tribal sensibilities .

Mrs. Bush aside, I can’t handle this nice-sounding kumbaya rhetoric. I’m sorry, but when one side votes for people who want to deport my friends and endanger human life on this planet with their ignorance of science, no, we can’t be partisan opponents and remain friends.

Read Lincoln’s second inaugural. Fight for what is right but do it with joy and purpose. Read MLK’s last speech in Memphis. Trumpism will be snuffed out with the values embodied in those great men’s important words .

When we share a commitment to objective reality and constitutional governance under a uniform rule of law, we can be political opponents without being enemies. Certain Republicans and conservatives (yourself included) still believe in these things. Trumpism is something else.

WADR sir, “Trumpism”? You mean, racism + contempt for facts? I am quite certain you know your party’s voter demographics in the last 40 years compared to Trump’s, not to mention its decades of cynical climate denial. I take no joy in fighting GOP’s endless shameless cynicism.

We have to have more in common, than that, that separates or divide us. We can have differing opinions & visions for our countries future, but we must have respect & listen to each other in order to move this country forward. Hate and anger without respect=Trumps ignorance
