Wow. What's to stop a Trumpian governor (and one will come) from just firing every Democrat or non-supporter from every county office, then? Seems to be a crazy-high level of power to grant to an executive.

We have experience in Broward county with these sorts of situations. Jeb Bush had to remove our Supervisor of Elections over incompetence. It also became a huge partisan issue because the GOP governor removed the DEM county elected official. I hope it happens, but I’m doubful.

Seems like a county official can only be 'fired' by county commissioners. Not a state job. If gross incompetence the State AG could file charges. Isn't that how this would work?
