Perhaps it might be possible to engage in a conversation about this over Twitter ? Are you familiar with small bullet ballistics ? Can we agree that this shooter had no business being within a mile of that weapon ? If yes,is there nothing that can be done to reduce that contact?

Steve, I'm one of your biggest fans and I appreciate where you're going here. As an enthusiast I can tell you its possible to put as many rounds down range with nearly any semi-auto pistol as you can with an AR. The firing rate isn't the problem.... it's the round & velocity.

I would also add that you can get those two things in a rather lightweight package. Those three things combined make an AR an incredibly versatile and effective killing machine.

I agree but you can get that with numerous firearms, just google semi-automatic 5.56 or .223. Plenty of them smaller but with same mag capacity. My point is, the exact gun shouldn't be the focus. It's easily replaced if removes from the marketplace....a hollow political win.

That's actually what I just said. It isn't the volume of bullets that is the issue.....its the speed and design of the round. The 5.56/.223 and the 7.62 are high velocity with pen rates that make nearly every hit deadly.
