Since some categories of weapons are already banned under federal law it means more weapons can be added to that list. The AR-15, the weapon of choice for most mass shooters, is the semi automatic version of an M16 which is illegal to buy. Both are devastating weapons of war.

But M-16’s are. Same weapon. Only difference is that it is semi automatic.

Yes, but the main difference between them is that the AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle now. When talking about semi-autos you got to remember 1 pull of the trigger equals 1 bullet. Now look at repeating rifles. You will find people out there that can work a repeater just as fast.
