Grant was hardly a champion of racial justice. In 1862 he issued his Genera Order 11 which expelled Jews from Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi.
Which he regretted the rest of his life and likely had much to do with his fathers business associates. He received wide praise from Jewish leaders during his presidency.
