A shift and she is entirely correct. Many people have asked me about minimum wage increases. I support them. I think they are reasonable and the reality is that when people have to get government assistance to make it when they are working full time it means that we are 3.

One of my core convictions in life is the following. There is worth and purpose in every life and everybody who works hard and plays by the rules no matter what they do for a living deserves respect. It’s one of my top 3 Dad speeches to my kids and I mean every word of it

Agreed! My mom always says don't forget to leave a tip when you leave a hotel room. The housekeeper that cleans your room probably has two or three jobs just to make ends meet
-
I hate tipping. I traveled to Australia and no one tip over there because employees are paid a decent salary.

My oldest left a job at 25 to move to Philly and bartend from May to early September. He worked 12 hour shifts sometimes 7 days a week. He did it so he had enough money for NYU law school. He says it’s one of the best things he did.

It's time to eliminate tipping system where it is the fundamental part of a person's wage. A person's income shouldn't be based on the whims of the customer. Increase the price of the item and pay them a living wage.
-
Wouldn't it be so much more straightforward and kinder if tipping was not part of people's pay? People on both sides could plan better. Who needs tipping to earn a fair wage? Yes, I tip servers 20% even for fair service, bc their base pay. But self-employed ? Plumblers?

Everyone should be required to work at least one year in a service industry during their younger years. Everyone.

Exactly. Working in the restaurant business and retail shaped me. I will go to a store with friends who pick up something in one area and put it down another area and I tell them to put that back where they got it. Decency, and being the person who had to clean up after others.

If people get a decent wage, tipping is a bonus for a job well done. That’s the way it should be. People should not to have to rely on strangers’ generosity to make ends meet. But as long as they do, tipping should be considered compulsory.
