76 years ago today. June 3, 1944 pensive young men from the @82ndABNDiv waited in the rain, sequestered on their bases, leaves cancelled, waiting for the day of days. The liberation of Europe was at hand. These men would liberate the first French village, St. Mere Eglise.

Today, the great grandchildren of these brave men are mustered outside of Washington DC. The President has threatened to turn the 82nd Airborne loose on the American people. A US Senator and combat veteran @SenTomCotton has called for the US Military to engage in criminal (2)

Behavior by following “ no quarter rules” ( this means showing no mercy and killing everybody. It is the tactics of the SS). This is a profound moment. We have seen the heavy hand of the state inflicting violence on innocent protesters and have watched hundreds of examples (3)

of misconduct and violence by Police, filmed on I phones over the last week. We have also seen wide ranging instances of police forces assaulting journalists as if this country was Putin’s Russia or Erdogan’s Turkey. Trump has put the honor of the US Armed Forces on the line. (4)

The GOP Senate is festooned with careerists and bootlickers who exist for seemingly no purpose other than assuaging Trump’s vanities and exculpating his incompetence, indecency, immorality, authoritarian fulminations and the use of violence against the American people (5)

These Radical Trump Republicans have betrayed their oaths and have surrendered to a siren song of meanness, corruption and meaningless power. They stand as America’s first authoritarian political party. They are the lock step cheerleaders and silent enablers of a vast empire (6)

of lies. They serve Trump’s lies and misinformation. They serve as Hessians as he assaults the rule of law and essential American institutions. They are his accomplices in incitement, division and grift. Now they paddle by in largely shameful silence as henchmen and women. (7)

With their silence around the despicable acts of Government inflicted violence against the American people, they have chosen eternal dishoner. At a moment when they had the opportunity (8)
