Trump has divided the country and stoked a cold civil war between us for more than three years. He has made no pretense about trying to be a President for all of us . He is a leader of a faction that has articulated nothing but enmity and hostility towards his fellow Americans. 4
He has hollowed out the government, prizing personal fealty over competence. He has attacked our vital institutions and demeaned and disparaged our heroes and men and women who have spent a lifetime serving the nation and all of us. He has disgraced his office and endangered us.5
A great political contest looms. A choice as important and decisive as any in the nations history lies ahead. The 2020 election and its outcome will be as decisive for the nations future as the elections of 1864 and 1940. The choice is between decline and renewal (6)
Between indecency and decency. Between incompetence and competence. Between Truth and Lies. The choice will be between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. The choice will be between a bad man (Trump) and a good man (Biden). The choice will be between a dishonorable man (Trump) (7)
And an honorable man (Biden) The choice will be between an incompetent and divisive bungler (Trump) and a competent and unifying leader (Biden). The stakes are too high to pretend the Democratic nomination isn’t over. The work of assembling a vast coalition to defeat Trump (8)
Must begin now. The nation and the American people will be tested in the weeks and months ahead. What we will see from the American people is an exposition of our national character. We will see the qualities of greatness and kindness. We will see the power of love and sacrifice.
We will see how much better the American people are than our corrupted and indecent President and his phalanx of enablers. The American people have never flagged in an hour of testing and they will not now. Let the answer to the coming test point the way back to the light
