Great piece by @jvlast. If the Democrats had nominated George Wallace and the Democratic Party establishment embraced him and he won, would the ramifications for Democrats have ended once Wallace left office? https://twitter.com/BulwarkOnline/status/1206923284635357184 …

There are actual demagogues to worry about. What would the ramifications have been if a guy who wasn't actually nominated was nominated, then actually won the presidency, served in office, and then left office? Get better hypotheticals.

It is like the show “survivor” and GOP Senators must blindside Trump at impeachment... and embarrass/crush him

Yet the Dems were smart enough not too! I can't say that about the GOP and their decision to even accept tRump to run as a Republican when he was never really a Republican Party Member

Nails it. Of course, if the center-right and center-left merge into a party that's pro-democracy, enlightened capitalism, and guarantees of civil rights, we'd have the numbers to drown out the Trump Rump.

The piece is interesting, but rests on an assumption that doesn’t seem to have any evidentiary support.: that Trump is the puppetmaster who’s time is limited. I don’t think so. Trump himself is ‘the shiny object’ and hides the source of corruption. That does not leave with him

This was wildly depressing. Impeachment and removal would be a gift but only if they are capable of realizing it.

The Republican Party could have prevented this had they joined together early to denounce Trump’s idiocy; cruelty; ineptitude; malignant narcissism; endless, persistent, obvious lying; and so on. His grip on his base likely would have been lost in a vacuum. Too late now, it seems
