When the hour comes, as it does for us all, who would have ever imagined that Rudy Giuliani’s leadership after 9/11 wouldn’t be the opening paragraph of his obituary. Instead, it will be his starring role as the kooky ringmaster of Trumps corruption circus.

Rudy was an entirely different person in 2001. It's somewhat amazing a personality can change so much.

He was not superb. I live in Manhattan. Just my opinion. The country thought he was better than NY’s.

It really was. I worked for the city, downtown near the Trade Center on 9/11. He wasn't a perfect mayor - none are. He made plenty of mistakes but he also did a whole lot of good.

What did he actually do tho

And then he tried to parlay that into another term as mayor in the face of a term limit. Brilliant.

That is what I just found out doing some research. I also saw that 911 preparedness was not very good, most importantly locating the emergency center in the tower itself, and then he lied about it 6 years later. I’m not impressed. Anyone can echo public sentiment.

This isn’t really a complete answer. I’ll ask the question why? To “like” this answer without knowing the factors that lead to this conclusion is as misguided as listeneing to anything the president has to say.

Perhaps we were desperate for order after 9/11. We saw him with a mask in a photo (walking with Hillary) However, being aware of his personal antics, Rudy wasn’t a hero. Now he’s a crook.

Except for when he recommended Bernard Kerik to lead Homeland Security.
