Is it really cowardice? They have made themselves pretty clear that their agenda is top priority, second to none. The Constitution isn’t working for them anymore and neither is democracy. They want total control.
What caused them to decide to close their eyes to this and ignore their responsibilities? Is it truly the fear of a trump tweet or is it deeper - are they too compromised & have the fear of Putin in their hearts more than the love of country. I’m just at a loss to understand.
The Republicans are derelict in their duty to be a check & balance the power as framers intended. This Congress brings such shame on our nation. The forefathers would be livid at how self-interested these people are
I think that there's an argument to be made that the Framers actually saw Congress as the more important branch. They established it and enumerated its powers in Article 1, and gave it the sole power to declare war. Congress long ago ceded many of its powers to the Executive.
