@SenJeffMerkley complained that@POTUS remark re standing 4 the Anthem was divisive. I told him that protesting by not standing 4 the Anthem was equivalent to protesting by burning the Flag. Legal but abhorant to almost every American. Ppl can protest w/o insulting our Country -
It’s one of the few things we all did together, respect the flag and salute the nation. No matter which team you were rooting for everyone rooted for the country. Obama endorsed division for 8 years, we’ve yet to burn it off.

Respectfully, no. I am paid to sing the Anthem and I love our country, but I reserve the right to NOT pledge to a "God" as proof of my patriotism.
-
Your not pledging to god but a state entity. The god portion implies it is a nation under god which is precisely what every nation says
-
That is what is precisely wrong. America is not a nation under god. “With ‘under God’ added, the Pledge is not a statement of patriotism. Instead, extremist preachers and politicians point to the language to validate their view that those who don’t believe in God don’t belong.”
