I support giving adequate support to ALL public schools (and to their teachers and staff) because where a child happens to live should not limit his or her access to a great education.

Why not focus on making sure that all public schools have adequate funding to be great schools so that it won’t matter where a student “happens to live”?

Where a child happens to live does not limit his or her access to a great education. The policy makers who inequitably fund schools do. #schoolchoice is #racism

I think vouchers are the answer. The public schools are declining in Jefferson Parish. It's a shame we (the taxpayers) of Jefferson Parish have to pay for the poor declining school system and have to pay to send out children to a private school to get a good education

"School Choice" is just a phrase to squeeze the public education system. But it's worse than that; it makes profit the motive and reduces access to substantive education to those without financial means. But you know all this.

School choice does this by creating small bubbles of good schools everyone tries to go to but might now get in or have means of commuting

Their income will limit them. That and their ability to actually get to the better schools given the reality that better schools have limited space! Of course, you know that but prefer screwing the poor while acting like you care.

Then support the public schools in ALL neighborhoods! Taking a few kids out of under-resourced communities - which is all #SchoolChoice does - does not improve communities. INVEST in all aspects of our communities, especially the public schools!
