Am i the only one who remembers that iOS was an abbreviation of iPhoneOS

That's not really true. It used to be called 'iPhone OS", then they renamed it to "iOS" in 2010, because the OS was being used for iPod touch and iPad as well as iPhone.

makes a lot of sense, since they're always making more iPad specific features

Can we finally get Calculator on the iPad?
-
Never understood why calculator was not on iPads. It should been one from the beginning.

So does iOS revert to iPhoneOS? (I know it would still cover the iPod Touch, but that’s basically an iPhone Lite at this point.)
-
(Oh, and I also realize that the screenshot includes “iOS” but not “iPhoneOS,” so, yes, this is a rhetorical question.)
-
maybe next dub dub DC. But its basically going back in time, initial OS for the iPhone was iPhoneOS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPhone_OS_2 …
-
Yes, that’s the reason for the question. iOS started as iPhoneOS, but when the i-device universe expanded, they shortened it to iOS, so now that they are removing the iPad from the iOS umbrella, will it stay iOS? (Obviously the answer is “for now, yes.”)
