Maybe we should do that. Then March he into a civil war POW camp. At least we wouldn't let them starve like the South did. But salt pork and no running water isn't gonna be any fun.

Um... your historical comparisons suck. A) Harper's Ferry was attacked by Northerners in what was then Virginia; the PDX ICE office was shut down by Portlanders B) the South had been threatening to rebel for 50+ years before the Civil War; the Pacific Northwest... not so much

I had a white haired child too. I adopted a brown one. They’re both kinda colored blind as adults. They both stand up for people who can’t stand up for themselves. One loves Metallica. The other only a little better. But they are loving caring adults who know right from wrong

I live in Harpers Ferry, and we’re pretty damned proud of that history. Hopefully we won’t need another John Brown to course-correct this madness. The big difference is that the enemies of the Union have the white house, and include Steve King.

You should be proud, he deserves as much credit for ending slavery as Lincoln.

One could go so far as to argue that for Lincoln and the Union government, emancipation was a strategic political and economic move, made as much for advantage in the war as it was for any humanitarian or moral purpose; while Brown’s position was clearly one of principle.

not to diminish the result of the emancipation, but one does have to admire the commitment and passion of John Brown, even if his path was in occasion a violent one.

While not preferred if possible, some times violent action is needed to bring change to such wrongs. As Kennedy said, "those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable."
