        GCRC programs became entitlements to top institutions. Glad the NIH moved them to CTSAs and that NCATS continues to evolve the CTSA program away from the GCRC program.

        Most estimates indicate that 90% of academic medical centers would be bankrupt without the funding from cancer centers - ‘comprehensive’ or not. CTSA programs are 1% or less of designated resources to cancer and impact far more health areas than just cancer.
