Jeff Bezos had a salary of $81k last year. His wealth comes from owning stock in his own company. I’m far from being wealthy, but it’d really be a shame to come up with a world altering idea, just to be told you suck for earning tons of money for executing the great idea.

A company that doesn't pay its employees a living wage*
-
No one is owed a living wage just for simply working. And “living wage” is a broad term. Before my wife and I were married, she made $7.25/hour full time, and had her own apartment, vehicle, cellphone, healthy food and basic internet. She couldn’t go out much though.
-
Anecdote isn't data, one person being able to do so relatively easily does not translate to an entire country of disparate workers.
-
I don’t believe people are enititled to material objects and luxuries. That’s my opinion, you’re opinion is the opposite, and that’s fine. Just don’t present your side as absolute truth when it isn’t.
-
You're inferring an awful lot from my criticism of your improper extrapolation of a single personal experience to an entire population. Statistics much?
-
Side note: this also applies to adverse reactions to vaccines, relative affordability of housing, car crashes while texting, eating the worm out of the tequila, taking chances on fugu and jumping out of planes with malfunctioning parachutes. Outliers exist.
-
Like I said. I don’t even believe that “because I work, no matter how low skilled, I am owed a living wage”. I don’t believe we are entitled to material objects. You disagree, and that’s fine.

But but he gave 1 one gagillionth of his net worth to charity!!!

How warped of a mindset must you have to criticize someone for donating $33 million?
-
Nothing wrong with criticizing someone for claiming they're altruistic for doing something in their own self interest.
-
Seriously. If he really wanted to make a meaningful statement, he'd pay all his workers a living wage. Amazon as a company is so rich that they have no reason not to, morally.

It's a test of concept. If it succeeds it will be "coming to an Ohio near you". Of course, the non-employees will then not use food stamps.

Columbus is an incredible popular place for companies to test new formats, items, and branding. Just saying. It may not be LA or NY, but Ohio as a test area certainly shouldn't be overlooked.
-
Colombus is also the one of the largest cities in America, with a population of over 860,000, a great target

Columbus is the 15th largest city in the US and new stuff is Constantly being built; they just got an Ikea. It's also a regional shipping hub, so...

Going to back off buying Amazon from now on. Even if it costs more, I'm going to buy locally.

Unfortunately, that just makes the problem worse... Small businesses are even more exploitative than big business.https://www.jacobinmag.com/2018/01/small-businesses-workers-wages …
