My father was granted release on parole today, after more than 40 years in prison!

I've got a problem with the # of people in for drug offenses - it isn't high enough. 511 people have died from fentanyl ODs in SF alone this year.

47% of federal inmates are drug possession. 99% of them are on marijuana who you can’t OD, is legal in several states, little risk of fentantly that could be reduced to 0 if it was legal nationwide which would cause prisons to loose too much money
-
99.5% of inmates are in for trafficking, the vast majority for hard drugs like heroin, meth, etc. https://bjs.ojp.gov/content/pub/pdf/dofp12_sum.pdf …

If you’re so worried about fentanyl deaths then start with the pharmaceutical industry that with legal backing made OxyContin knowing what it would cause. But it saved them from losing 25% of their profits so who cares!

Then move onto why the criminal punishment for these charges is so harsh for addicts and why not go after the dealers? Oh because following that trail far will lead you to some senators and the dea and people that deserve it might get punished
