From recent time spent, I think Paladins is significantly better than Overwatch in the gameplay & balance department.
Overwatch has a much more quality of life and larger feature set, but the long history of problems are well documented

Agree, the card system is so simple on paper yet so effective in shaping up your own playstyle. I would even say it’s balancing on individual play & team play is better too. One thing I dislike though is Strix. Fuck you bird man.

The card loudout system is cool but I think being able to swap heroes midmatch is a better balance tool overall. I think I've spent enough time with both games to know I don't like either of them
