I love HL2. If it was released today it would still be a good singleplayer game, but nothing special. For the time though, it had the best physics engine, great story, realistic faces, great puzzles and the gravity gun. Most modern shooters today has a lot to thank HL2 for.

For its time it was amazing, but compared to modern games it's not special other than it's historical relevance. Also the plot is bad and has always been bad.
