While im personally disappointed in the rate of updates/ development overwatch receives (except workshop thats lit). Its genuinely impressive to me the level of viewership the OWL manages to hold.

I feel like there must be some big picture stuff I just dont get. OWL has teams buying the license for $30m+ PER TEAM. With that much money, it seems like there should be HUGE investment in updating the core game. More players = more OWL viewers... right?

Workshop is a massive investment in development and also continues forward to custom maps (100% expect this to happen). That's the direction the core game is being updated. Development has always been separate from OWL (operate in different buildings entirely)

Yeah 100% workshop is the best thing they've done yet. Just in Jeffs video he was saying it was the work of two coders. So just seems like Blizz could do... more. Also Re: the COD Franchising, apparently those teams are sold seperately for MORE than OWL. Insane.

Agreed. The announcement video pretty heavily implied that the work done on workshop was the result of a very small amount of people. They may have put more resources into it as it came into fruition, but what was happening in the meantime, and what’s happening now that its out

Haven't been watching the dev logs because they're usually just patch note recaps, so I didnt know that. I guess their 'big update on horizon' is still to come and hopefully the 'more' is hopefully on the way soon
