My absolute favorite is learning new skills on the fly. First introduced to this as Stalker from Ragnarok Online - who copies the last skill they were hit with. Helps with my indecision and I like the decision making it can add

I like it when they incorporate skill-based elements in turn based combat. Eg: Mother 3's rhytmic combo attacks, dodging in Mario and Luigi series games, or Undertale's bullet hell. Makes it all feel more rewarding and that you're actually able to improve in the game

I never got a lot out of D&D, played bog-standard characters, until I played a Kenku and it became a constant low-key RP challenge to not speak and only make sounds (or describe things.) Also played a Warlock for the first time and they get so much flavour other classes don’t get

In Skyrim I installed a few mods that allowed me to have multiple followers and some new conjurations, then focused healing. I basically became the healer of the party, like some sort of side-main character with like 8 or 9 things attacking enemies.

If we're talking tabletop, I just really like playing Barbarian. Not just because it's straightforward, but because *since* it's straightforward, I can put most of my role-playing time into fleshing out their personality outside of their hacking-and-smashing.

To this day the concept of channeling has always been an ascetically pleasing, role play intensive and impactful ability on any type of rpg in which it is defined. While I enjoy the traditional hermetic traditions,, channeling and divine magic is still among my favorites.

Hmm, I'm not the best at this, but something like Dragon's Dogma brought out a rare interest in bows for me. Knocking back like 5-10 arrows at once, volley them up in the sky, different ailment effects instantly on the tips, just very fast bow play. I find it interesting.

Or firing a volley of split arrows that rain down explosions was always cool, light or dark effects for better damage against enemies, etc. Along with that, being able to do certain melee attacks/disarms or counters with the actual bow too, instead of just using a side weapon.
