I just went to get my son’s Epi-pen prescription refilled and was told they’re out of stock due to a “national shortage.” ...is this actually a thing???
-
-
Holy shit.
-
news today reported medications prices will be going up 6% very soon. so, shortages or intentionally holding back until the date they can charge more? delay would bring in hundreds of millions of dollars more industrywide. I smell a very big rat.
-
Drugs cost SO much more in the US than my country, it’s appalling
-
I haven’t had the meds for my narcolepsy for 8 years now, because the GENERIC averages $900 per month. It’s not really a problem, unless I want to drive. Or cook. Or bathe. Or work. Or adult.
-
That's f'ed up. Uncontrolled profit is going to kill us all.
-
Thankfully, I prefer showers, anyway. But I’ve ruined more than one pan/pot, & am dependent on energy drinks (destroying my metabolism, bad for my heart) to stay safely functional during daylight hours.
-
This is awful and appalling. I’m so so sorry :( That wouldn’t be allowed to happen in my healthcare system, it would be seen as cruel and unethical :( I wish I could do something
-
One of my coworkers has a friend who lost two of her three daughters to narcolepsy-caused car accidents. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have coped thus far, even if I have gained a lot of weight from the energy drinks. I’m hoping to find a job with real benefits soon.

What???? That’s not cool

I'm one of the lucky ones. I do a 90 day mail pharmacy & my endo always writes for more than I need so that if something happens, I've always got about a month extra. But this will kill people who can't do what I am able to. It's bullshit. Profit over people every single time!
-
Glad u will be ok but this is terrible
-
It absolutely is. I'm a T1 diabetic. Back in the early 90's, pre-existing on insurance was an issue as a newly married (big one - horror stories about it) but I never, never worried about getting insulin. The last 10 yrs have been a nightmare with Big Pharma raising prices.
-
Jesus Mary & Joseph an INSULIN shortage?! That’s... I mean, it’s disgraceful the
#EpipenShortage‘s dragged on this long (it’s international & has been, what, over a year now?) but INSULIN? I don’t know you at all & was v relieved to see you’re prescribed enough to cover delay! -
Endo Drs. are pretty savvy when it comes to making sure pts are covered with insulin. As are other drs. Pts need to ask, though. But our for profit health care is completely out of control. Praying the Dems can get their shit together & we'll see a single payer plan soon.
-
Realise it sounds mad but am v relieved to hear that. (Perhaps less mad if explain my mother was T1 diabetic & though meticulously compliant, brittle T1?) At least that great eejit hasn’t managed to dismantle ACA as he’d sworn to; but yes, hope for you all Dems can get it thru!

Oh my goodness! That is scary. I hope you don’t have to go without.
-
I won't because my endo is awesome & we plan ahead for FUBAR to happen. I always have an extra 30 day supply on top of my 90 day delivery. And more importantly, I have an RX plan that doesn't require me to ration. Others aren't as lucky.

This appears to be an approaching crisis.
-
We're already there. For people who rely on meds & adequate care to stay alive daily, this has been our reality for the last few years. The ACA was a good enough start to upset the Big Pharma apple cart in a very bad way.

Because drug companies can’t make much money off it. This is terrible.Ask dr if they can safely switch you to one available (with precise instructions and BS monitoring)
