    1) Hard to imagine a Kenya-US trade deal could serve as a ‘model’ for other US-African bilateral deals. You can’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to 54 distinct countries/economies. 2) Doesn’t this undermine the progress of the AfCFTA? The US should be working multilaterally.

This is a disaster. It will disrupt American lives, hurt our economy, and damage US-Africa relations.

This is the same administration supposedly attempting to double two-way trade with Africa. It will somehow accomplish this feat without Nigeria. 23.3% of our population is affected by this ban. To what end? What long-term, positive, strategic objective does this deliver?

Smart piece by in on African Eurobonds and growing debt concerns. People should take comfort in the growing track record of repayment, the few recent incidents of default, and the improvements in African debt management.

They still have agency. They can borrow from someone else or not borrow at all. Surely we are free to decide who we lend to. And we are well within our rights in not giving concessional finance meant for education to a state that is blatantly discriminatory against girls

Congo has $3.3bn in previously undisclosed debt, says , with the lion’s share ($2.7bn) owed to Total (French), Eni SpA (Italian), and Chevron (American). A worrying but interesting corrective to the Chinese hidden debt narrative.
