Those deaths are the result of prohibition not the drugs themselves. When used in medically supervised settings fentanyl is used regularly with safety. When allowed safe injection sites the deaths stop. It's prohibition that's dangerous and killing people not drugs.

That's only partially correct because you are making the assumption about a persons tolerance and addiction to the drug. The mental illness of addiction is unpredictable. Even in a controlled setting. How many people walked out of the SIS in Vancouver and dropped dead outside?
