Here is the new rule DOJ is announcing today which reclassifies bump fire stock as machineguns under the National Firearms Act. That will effectively ban them and require anyone who currently owns them to either dispose of them or be subject to charges. https://freebeacon.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Bump-Stock-Final-Rule.pdf …

Here is how federal law defines a machinegun: "any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger."

It's pretty straightforward. If it can fire more than one shot per trigger pull it is a machinegun. Otherwise, it is not. Bump fire requires a trigger pull for each shot fired.

Just got off the phone with senior DOJ officials. Piece coming.

They expect the rule to go into effect on March 21st. So, that's the date it will become illegal for anyone to possess a bump fire stock.

NRA tells me they're disappointed with how the DOJ's bump stock ban targets current owners. The gun rights group had called for current owners to be able to register their legally-purchased stocks.pic.twitter.com/NGMPYUldgO

Here are the full comments that the NRA submitted to DOJ during the rulemaking process if you want more on what the gun rights group's detailed position on the matter is. http://shared.nrapvf.org/sharedmedia/1510470/nra_comments_on_atf2017r-22.pdf …

If I own string and belt loops in the vicinity of a semiautomatic firearm, is that now constructive intent?

Confiscation and criminalization by executive fiat is more dangerous than a billion bump stocks.

Fuck these people. Trump will not be reelected and I do not care what happens to him anymore.

I’m starting to agree with you. The whole ‘trust the plan this will be challenged and get struck down in the courts’ is not an argument.
-
Not to mention, if SCOTUS had no problem rewriting 0bamacare, they won’t bat an eye rewriting NFA

Or registration remedy. I think bump stocks are stupid toys of little to no self-defense value, and any martial value is highly suspect. But it should be legislation not regulation.
-
This means all semis are now machine guns fyi because bump fire can easily be done with the trigger finger
-
That's the Left's goal.

And trump just gave it to them on a silver platter
