This is a win for feminism. A system that focuses on transitioning women to independently living within their own means is fundamentally empowering. Women will know the system believes they're capable of immediately or quite quickly taking care of themselves.
-
I don't think it means much unless women want to be equally accountable. They do not and will not unless forced. It's no win for feminism. It's a reality check that men are done with their "traditional roles" where women have long since left theirs but insist that men remain.
-
The reality check is exactly why it's a win for feminism. We've crushed yet another sexist role, namely man as "provider". My sister and I made sure we got our degree and worked before we even considered marriage. We've never expected a man to support us, before or after.
-
You are right but that's probably not how "feminists" see it. You are probably the best type of woman. The faux trad-con with no goals that wants to be only an SAHM is a fraud but so is the militant feminist. Opposite sides of the spectrum but equally dangerous.
-
Being independent doesn't mean being a "feminist". It means being responsible. Modern "feminists" are not responsible people and they seek preferential treatment over accountability. My ex-wife identifies as a feminist. I identify as an egalitarian.

That’s called the “Feminist Equality Boomerang Effect.” It’s what happens when women make as much as men and are treated as equals. We’re not there yet, but I look forward to the day when guys get settlements.

Most US states now default to split everything right down the middle, including parenting time. You can negotiate an even better deal if she's wanting to move on as fast as possible. Lifetime alimony is done and soon it will be gone entirely. New tax laws will shrink it even more
