Some bumps, a push, a few punches followed by insults. How is this worth possible 30 years in prison? Especially when it appeared to be mutual combat? Aside from a light push, the "victims" appeared to be the ones to start group punching.

Under Florida law, aggravated battery is normally a second-degree felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. But if it's committed because of someone's sexual orientation, the crime becomes a first-degree felony, punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

Tough to prove IMHO They used an insult when they were angry for what they viewed as a confrontational bump. Even if they are stupid raged up meat heads, the interaction initiated by the victims makes it hard to prove Even if the victims simply made an honest mistake

They would have to prove they knew they were gay. Random people just bumping into each other usually don't know their life details. Also, the "victims" seemed more than happy to start throwing punches.

I got that impression as well, but found it hard to tell who was who, and only watched it once I went by the fact there was charges and the tagged on charge the tape was reviewed about who "started it all"
