Objective law requires physical evidence and/or witnesses. In sexual misconduct allegations, often neither are present. We need basic street smarts, like telling young women not to take 'business meetings' alone at a mans hotel room. Restraint is the first ingredient of freedom.

Our tradition of "innocent till proven Guilty" comes with the price of "burden of proof". That means we don't always get justice served, it hurts and it isn't always fair. I get it, it sucks. But compared to any other alternative, to vicious mob rule and such, it's our only hope.

Many older males groom their victims if in positions of power say a boss they take ful advantage of that fact . & many women don’t see they’ve been manipulated until it’s too late .

I agree that meetings should not be held (alone or even otherwise) in hotel rooms; but it almost sounded like you're giving carte blanche "freedom" to the men to do as they please while the women must have "restraint" in order to have freedom. You misunderstand the power issues.

This might be wise but as the dad of three girls, it’s a shame they can’t just do business like men do business. They have to be on guard when meeting with men. I’m not proud of that aspect of my gender.

Not taking meeting is implying that man is a rapist. I would say take the meeting but take gun/other easy to use self defense tool with you. But then again i might be wrong. Its a tricky situation. Maybe take chastity belt to meetings like that lol. Messy life is messy.

It's the corollary to the Pence rule, wherein he doesn't take meetings alone with women because of accusations of misconduct.

That is limiting your behavior due to fear which is never a good thing. You could have mic or camera in room and record meeting tho but that creates its own difficulties as you never know who might be listening in on your device. Life is complex...

All fear is fear of the unknown. Fear is precisely the problem here, because none of us is a mind-reader so we're all just hedging our bets.

Well there is also fear of what you do know. And there are unknown unknowns ;) But that is true - none of us are mind-readers and nobody knows what other person is thinking.

Ironic that you apply the word restraint to women & never mention that the men involved should practice it. Do you have to worry about where you conduct business meetings? Women shoukd be as free as men to network. Your tweet is sexist in the extreme

The consequences? That men are allowed to assault at will & I just have to deal with that fact? Do you have any ANY idea how twisted that thinking is? How about we just teach boys not to assault women & hold men accountable when they do? How about that for a concept?

A business meeting should NEVER be an unsafe environment. During conventions meetings are held in room suites all the time. Sex is not implied nor should it be just because of where a BUSINESS meeting is held

Im old I know that kind of thinking but it isnt correct we have assumed responsibility for the behavior of men for centuries. The time has come to end that thinking. Its the kind of thinking behind burkas. Men need to be taught women arent prey

I absolutely believe men should be held accountable for their behavior. The sexual revolution has turned both men and women into sexual monsters, with little regard for themselves or for others. Unfortunately, women bear the physical brunt of this more so than men.
