I call BS, they would have had all of their data and email backup.

Maybe they have email backups and stuff. But the forensic evidence needed to prove thier claim that the Russians hacked them would more than likely be gone. Since the FBI or any law enforcement wasn't allowed to examine the DNCs server the hard evidence is gone.
