Perhaps the problem with my search and your suggestion was using Google for researching this. Literally all I got was info on an exchange of fire between the USS Maddox and three North Vietnamese torpedo boats on August 2, 1964. A "ghost attack" afterward on August 4 started it??

But before going further, if the North Vietnamese already dedicated themselves to firing torpedoes at the Maddox on the 2nd, then the reason for the US declaration of war on the 7th is self explained even if they lied about a second attack. Yes/no?

Syria has a lot to do with Turkey. I wouldn't be surprised if Turkey will be taking over large chucks of Syria. Geo-politically the west is trying to contain Iran, China and Russia.
