        It's not very common - 1-2%, when genetically checked. Higher numbers being bandied about are false. Been about the same for hundreds of years.

        Canadian friend was GP in 1960s-80s. He says blood tests alone gave impression in his practice that at least 10% of babies have dads that are not their biological father.

        There are a number of recent genetic studies: we have the numbers for Germany, Belgium, Boers, Iceland, Ireland, England, Switzerland. Some contemporary, some over the last few centuries. All less than 2% per generation. We know.
